Down with Due Rags

I was on my way to school and decieded to take the bus and the train so that I could have some time to read and study before my class this morning.  As I got on the bus I noticed a young man with a du-rag on his head.  This is a common act among the African-American young men.  The du-rag is used as a fashion statement as well as a method of grooming one's hair.  So when I saw the young man with his du-rag on, I honestly have to say that I didn't pay any real attention to it.

Two stops into my ride I noticed a group of African-American women getting on the bus and guess what, they all had du-rags or at least some kind of wrap on thier heads.  I thought to myself, "how hard would it have been to brush your hair or put on a hat?"  Just as I was getting that thought through my head another group of African-American men and women got on the bus and guess what they had on each of thier head?  You guessed it, a du-rags.

I mean come on, is the du-rag the new hat or is it just another excuse black folks are coming up with not to do something correctly.  How long does it take for a man to brush his head before he walks out of the house?  How long does it take a woman to pull her hair back in a pony tail or throw on a wig before exiting the front door?  Maybe I'll never know the answer but I can say that I will never be caught leaving my home with a du-rag on my head.

Crushing for Jesus

I have been preforming an awesome task of crushing full cans of soda and breaking brick for people who need to change their lives.  I am known as "The Crusher", on Jeff Warner's Ultimate Strength Team.  We are a group of men, with different life stories, who are dedicated to changing the lives of people who are in similar situations and challenges we have face in our own lives.  We have been to schools and have held week long crusades to reach people who are in need of help.  We are not just a bunch of men who like to break and crush stuff, but extend our services beyond the actual service or event.  We have been all over the world teaching people how to change their lives and circumstances.

Jeff Warner is a man who had a lot of childhood struggles, he overcame these struggles and became a Superstar with WCW, WWF, and also in professional boxing.  After boxing he hit rock bottom loosing everything including his family, which led him to changing his life.  He dedicated his life to God and started the Ultimate Strength Team.  His family was restored, he started a church, and has been helping people change their lives every since.  He has been so instrumental in some many peoples lives that Hollywood is making a movie about his life.

Fast Food...So Good...So Bad

I recently did a paper about fast food and discovered that people who eat fast food on a regular are in danger. Here is a small list of burger and their fat and calorie intake.

Big Mac McDonald's 540 calories and 30 grams of fat
Whopper Burger King 670 calories and 39 grams of fat
Baconator Wendy's 970 calories and 60 grams of fat
Double Beefy Burrito Taco Bell 680 and 42 grams of fat
Beef and Cheddar sandwich Arby's 650 and 33 grams of fat
Butter Burger Culver's 613 calories and 28 grams of fat
Monster Burger Hardee's 1320 calories and 95 grams of fat.
The Monster Burger Has 2 1/3 pound beef patties, 8 slices of bacon, 4 slices of cheese.  Wow!!

What is crazy is that you still have fries and a soda to consume.

It's cold...already?

My son plays football for a local team in which I have decided to be one of the coaches.  As I watched as my team scamper up and down the field in an effort to score point and play defence, I noticed that my teeth were chattering from the cold winds that seemed to be blowing through me.  As I stood there trembling from the cold I thought to myself, "winter is just around the corner".  Nine hellish months of snow and bitter cold are almost here.  I'm getting cold just thinking about what this year's winter has in store for us Minnesotans.  I for one and not quite ready for the long winter ahead.

"Every winter, When the great sun has turned his face away, The earth goes down into a vale of grief, And fasts, and weeps, and shrouds herself in sables, Leaving her wedding-garlands to decay - Then leaps in spring to his returning kisses."
- Charles Kingsley
